Will You be Waiting

We were children way too long ago

Throwing sticks, breaking bones, making fires, no one knows

I was a man not long ago

Throwing words, breaking hearts, making dreams to tear apart

It didn’t start with you, it won’t end with you

Not at all

We were strangers not that long ago

Living life, loving laughter, I won the battle, but the war came after

We were alive a long time ago

Living a lie, loving a game, you showed up, but your heart never came

It didn’t start with you, it won’t end with you

Not at all

Summer time brings hallelujah

A patient man with a weakness to leave ya

Will you be waiting when the winter comes?

If I fall will you pick me from the ground?

If I sink to the bottom would you swim down?

Will you be waiting when the winter comes?

We’ll be together soon you know

Reminiscing, never missing, you can speak ‘til the end and I’ll listen to ya

But we’ll be apart again don’t you know

It was a fool’s game but then a storm came

Rough seas and we’re hoping for calm

It didn’t start with you, it won’t end with you

Not at all

Summer time brings hallelujah

A patient man with a weakness to leave ya

Will you be waiting when the winter comes?

If I fall will you pick me from the ground?

If I sink to the bottom would you swim down?

Will you be waiting when the winter comes?
